After sold-out shows around the Bay Area, "We Interrupt This Empire..." returns to the Parkway Theater! A collaborative film documenting the direct actions that shut down San Francisco following the US Government's invasion of Iraq in March, "We Interrupt This Empire..." is a dynamic and inspiring look at the modern anti-war movement. With still no weapons of mass destruction found, daily Iraqi civilian and US military casualities from an occupation spiralling out of control, and billions being diverted from US social programs to fund the "liberation" and "reconstruction", "EMPIRE..." is perhaps even more relevant now as the US Government and Corporate Media backpedal. Exposing the collusion of corporate media, war profiteers and the US goverment's imperialist drive, plus a look at the attack on our civil liberties, "EMPIRE..." also celebrates the Bay Area's diversity of resistance to an illegal war. What happens when a trigger-happy cowboy with a pocket full of loot aims his guns on an oil-rich, people-poor nation? We Interrupt This Empire... is a powerful look into the direct actions that shut down the financial district of San Francisco on the day after the United States invaded Iraq. With audio backdrop including the live radio broadcasts from the Independent Media Center to SFPD's tactical communications that were picked up on police scanners, the documentary reveals a diverse show of resistance from the streets of San Francisco as well as providing a critique of the corporate media coverage of the war and exploring such issues as the Military Industrial Complex, attack on civil liberties, and the United States' current imperialist drive.
