What lessons have we learned fifty years after the U.S.-British sponsored coup that removed the popular government of Dr. Mossadegh in Iran?
This event provides an in-depth review of the coup, the impact of the coup on the political and economic development in Iran and the Middle East, and its relevance to U.S. foreign policy today.
Speakers:
Cyrus Bina - Professor of Economics at Univ. of Minnesota, Morris
Mansour Farhang - Professor of International Relations at Bennington College
Nikki Keddie - Emeritus Professor of History at UCLA
The documentary "The Life of Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh" will follow a Q&A session. Refreshments will be served during intermission, and Professor Keddie will be available for book signing.
This event is free to the public, however a suggested donation of $5-10 is requested, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
