ACTOR DANNY GLOVER & AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST AMY GOODMAN AT DECEMBER 15 SF BENEFIT FOR ACTIVIST NONPROFITS During this "Evening of Solidarity", Goodman and Glover will speak about journalist Mumia Abu-Jamal, who’s been on death row for 20 years; the Fight for KPFA Free Speech Radio; and the September 11 Attacks and Aftermath. WHAT: A benefit for Friends of Free Speech Radio, Media Alliance, and the Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal, featuring actor Danny Glover and award-winning journalist Amy Goodman. Goodman was the star reporter at the Pacifica Radio Network’s show Democracy Now until Pacifica forced her off the air; now she broadcasts a daily "War and Peace Report" on 100 radio and cable TV stations nationwide. Glover and Goodman worked together during the recent United Nations Conference on Racism on South Africa. Pacifica stations include Berkeley’s KPFA radio. Media Alliance is a 25-year old nonprofit media advocacy organization based in San Francisco that works for media that promotes the interests of peace, justice, and social responsibility. The Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal is a committee that raises funds for Abu-Jamal’s legal defense and organizes events to educate the public about his unjust incarceration.
