ACTOR DANNY GLOVER & AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST AMY GOODMAN AT DECEMBER 15 SF BENEFIT FOR ACTIVIST NONPROFITS During this "Evening of Solidarity", Goodman and Glover will speak about journalist Mumia Abu-Jamal, who’s been on death row for 20 years; the Fight for KPFA Free Speech Radio; and the September 11 Attacks and Aftermath. WHAT: A benefit for Friends of Free Speech Radio, Media Alliance, and the Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal, featuring actor Danny Glover and award-winning journalist Amy Goodman. Goodman was the star reporter at the Pacifica Radio Network’s show Democracy Now until Pacifica forced her off the air; now she broadcasts a daily "War and Peace Report" on 100 radio and cable TV stations nationwide. Glover and Goodman worked together during the recent United Nations Conference on Racism on South Africa. WHEN: Saturday, December 15, 7:30 PM WHERE: Mission High School, 18th & Dolores Streets, San Francisco PRICE: $10 – 50 sliding scale; students $5 – 10 sliding scale SPONSORS: Friends of Free Speech Radio is a Berkeley-based organization that supports the efforts to democratize the Pacifica Radio Network, the only progressive radio network in the United States. Pacifica stations include Berkeley’s KPFA radio. Media Alliance is a 25-year old nonprofit media advocacy organization based in San Francisco that works for media that promotes the interests of peace, justice, and social responsibility. The Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal is a committee that raises funds for Abu-Jamal’s legal defense and organizes events to educate the public about his unjust incarceration.
