Film and speaker on Israel & Palestine: A special screening of "It is No Dream" with celebrated guest speaker, New Profile's Dorothy Naor. "It is No Dream" (2002, 53 min.), the documentary film by Benny Brunner and Joseph Rochlitz, is a searing indictment--by Israelis--of Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza as experienced by Israeli journalists, scholars and human rights activists. The film was received with roaring support at the 2003 Jewish Film Festival. Special guest speaker Dorothy Naor is a member of New Profile, an Israeli group seeking to transform Israel "from a militaristic to a civilized society." Naor will speak about New Profile's work with conscientious objectors and its efforts to stop Israel's construction of the 340+ mile long "separation wall" which cuts across the West Bank, confiscating Palestinian land. Presented by Final Tuesday Films of the San Francisco First Unitarian Universalist Society and co-sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee and A Jewish Voice for Peace. For more information contact the AFSC at 415-565-0201 ext. 26. Tues., Oct. 28, 7:00 pm. San Francisco First Unitarian Universalist Center, 1187 Franklin St. (at Geary). Donation of $10-$20 requested. Sliding scale. No one turned away for lack of funds.
