On September 4th, 1957 Elizabeth Eckford and eight other African-American students attempted to enter Little Rock Central High School, a school that previously had only accepted white children. Why did Elizabeth step forward to perform that enormous act of courage, and how did it change the nation, and her life? Come find out for yourself as Carolyn Tyler of ABC-7 News hosts a Conversation with Elizabeth Eckford, a Living Legend.
A donation of $15 will be requested at the door. All proceeds will go to a special fund set up so that low-income students can participate in Sojourn's journeys to the south to study the Civil Rights Movement. Sojourn to the Past is a program dedicated to teaching youth how to live their lives with tolerance, non-violence and civic responsibility using the lessons of the Civil Rights Movement to empower youth of today to become strong community leaders of tomorrow. For more information about this program or to become a member of Sojourn to the Past call us at 650-952-1510.
