City College of S.F. Unpermitted Rally of Resisistance to On-campus Police and F

Date:
Wednesday, October 22, 2003
Time:
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
City College of San Francisco, Phelan Campus ( Balboa Park BART station). Rally outside of campus police station located at South- east corner of Cloud Hall.

City College students are calling for a unpermitted campus wide protest against their very own CCSF police dept. and the hospitable environment being paved for the F.B.I. CCSF police are to recieve a clear message on Wed. that they are no longer welcome on our campus. There are very few problems that arise on our campus that we as students and faculty can not resolve on our own without police intervention. Campus police proved that they have no qualms with disregarding students rights after they threw an anti-war protestor/ very active member of Anarchist Library Club, in jail last semester for not showing his student I.D. Many students are also very concrned about a Homeland Security Training Course that will be being offerd to students interested in starting a career with The Dept. of Homeland Security. This new course comes at a time when students are being told that there is no money for Ethnic Studies Classes of which students have been demanding for years. Students are becoming very uncomfortable (to say the least ) with degree of cooperation the administration is offering to the F.B.I. and are planning on letting them know on Wednesday.
