Please join the Animal Rights Direct Action Coalition at the Artists' Television Access on Thursday, November 6th, 2003 at 8pm for a showing of a new documentary:
Chattel (chat-tel) n. 1. An article of personal
property. 2. A slave. 3. An insightful, new documentary that exposes the shocking truth about animals in our society-- that they have little more legal protection than does any inanimate object.
The documentary uncovers the mistreatment and abuse inflicted on animals in this country's vivisection industry-- abuse that continues despite most Americans'
oppostion to animal experiments causing even moderate pain and distress. Highlights of the expose include interviews with primate expert Jane Goodall, a former USDA laboratory inspector, several physicians, and a former employee of the Oregon
Primate Research Center. The interviews, interspersed with footage of protests and the terrible conditions under which animals in labs are kept, eloquently drive the message home that the current societal view of animals as no more than chattel is, tragically,
outdated.
Cost is $5.00 at the door. Hope to see you there.
