1:00 PM
-
2:00 PM
Event Type:
Vigil/Ritual
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
State Office Building, front steps
505 Van Ness Avenue
San Francisco, California
note: day has been changed due to state holiday:
so now it really feels like we are on the set of a surreal action movie
starring a violent, super-macho lead. With people all around us supposedly
voting for someone who speaks fondly of Adolf Hiltler and shoving women's
heads in toilets and immigrant-bashing and hummers, what is there left to do?
Cry in!!!!! Maybe the only way for things to get better is for us to start
being real with each other, to stop trying to fit ourselves into this plot of
violence, machines, and no feeling.
Cry In!!!!! It's an invitation to cry for the people who will suffer, for the
manipulation of the public, for the devastating alienation and cynicism and
fear and hopelessness that got the Terminator elected. To express what we
feel together instead of swallowing it individually.
Cry in!!!! we don't have to be ashamed to feel hurt, scared, anxious and
outraged. We don't need a state of action movie heros. Let's put our real
feeling out in public, where it belongs.
Cry In!!!!! In the end, it's an act of hope....in releasing pain we can start
to build from a real foundation. It is a revolutionary act, the opposite of
an action movie.
This is serious. Meet on the steps of the state building, 1pm Monday, Oct.13,
and let it all out. This is focused on crying, on release, not on
violence to ourselves or others. Please come ready as possible to be real, and
to help others feel safe at this event, and in our state.
