Peter Miguel Camejo Green Party Candidate for Governor is coming to Solano County!!! Now is your chance to hear a candidate for governor who will work for the people, and not for corporations and special interests. Bring your questions about the issues that matter to you. Sunday, September 21, 2003 7 pm 332 Georgia Street, historic BofA Building, Vallejo (From I-80, exit at Georgia Street, and head west. The building is on the right-hand side of the street, just past Marin Street.) For more information, call Steve from the Solano Green Party at 707-449-3887 or email at ssdj@starband.net Peter Miguel Camejo (63) is a first generation Venezuelan-American who has fought for social and environmental justice since his teens. Peter is chair and co-founder of Progressive Asset Management, Inc., a broker-dealer firm, which promotes socially responsible investments. Camejo served for five years on the Board of Directors of Earth Share, a federation of the 41 largest environmental groups in the United States. He also helped form the Environmental Justice Fund, to finance and unify environmentalists of color. Through an organic farming firm, Earth Trade, he helped Nicaragua become the world’s largest producer of organic sesame. Peter has worked to defend the rights of Latino workers in the U.S. and to free political prisoners in Latin America. He marched in Selma, Alabama with Martin Luther King and was active against the War in Vietnam. Peter is a long-time supporter of the women’s movement and gay and lesbian rights. In 1987, he launched a program, called “The IRA that cares” to help fund the S.F. Aids Foundation.. He is fluent in Spanish and English, and lives with his wife, Morella, in Folsom, California. The Solano Green Party consists of 1100 registered Greens. We are committed to working on issues of Social Justice within our local community and to getting Greens elected into office at the city and county levels. The Camejo campaign and the Green Party have a unique opportunity to change the way California politics happens, but we can't do it without your commitment! We welcome your involvement. You can help the Solano Green Party by: DONATING: Our opponents have dozens of statewide organizing staff, millions of dollars to spend on TV commercials, and never have to check the bank balance just to print new materials. It costs money to get our message out to the public. VOLUNTEER: Your vote is not enough! No genuine grassroots change can happen without citizens who will put their time and effort into carrying their ideas through. We are looking for volunteers to table at farmer's markets and supermarkets; to make phone calls urging people to vote; to stuff and send mailings. If you can assist us with any of the above, please call Steve at 449-3887, or email him at ssdj@starband.net
