"Flight from Death:The Quest for Immortality" explores the ways in which our day-to-day behaviors are affected by the awareness of our own mortality. Through stunning visuals and insightful interviews, this award-winning film (Best Documentary, 2003 Beverly Hills Film Festival), explores human beings' innate and subconscious fear of death and portrays the impacts of that fear on our behavior, specifically in regard to violence. "Flight from Death" is directed by Patrick Shen, co-produced by Greg Bennick, and narrated by actor Gabriel Byrne. Co-Producer Greg Bennick is the co- founder of "The World Leader's Project" which addresses issues related to the psychology of human violence and he directs a website dedicated to non-violent social change, at wordsasweapons.com Reception after with Director Patrick Shen & interviewee Toni Riss. Admission - $5 or sliding scale ALSO - The film features interviews with leading scholars, philosophers, researchers and authors such as Sam Keen, Robert Jay Lifton, Sheldon Solomon, Irvin Yalom, and New College of California graduate Toni Riss, a stage four breast cancer survivor. Director and Co-Producer Patrick Shen was 2nd Unit and Art Director on We Served with Pride - the story of Chinese Americans who served in WWII, a Emmy award nominated film made in 1999. Narrator and internationally renown actor/producer Gabriel Byrne recently starred in David Cronenberg's latest film Spider and gained prominence in the U.S. with roles in the "The Usual Suspects" (opposite Kevin Spacey) "Miller's Crossing", "Dead Man", and production of Oscar-nominated "In the Name of the Father". ##
