STRANGE and Diversity Center present the third annual Transgender March and Rally on Saturday, October 11th from 2 pm to 9:30 pm. The Santa Cruz Trans March was founded by local youth Kevin West and this year the spirit carries on. The march seeks to empower and strengthen the local transgender and allies community. We aim to transform the downtown public space for mass education on issues of transgender politics, as well as address the ways in which all people (regardless of sex, gender, race, class, religion, etc.) are subjected to arbitrary standards of performing masculinity and femininity. The day of celebration includes a sign-making party, march, rally, spoken word performance, and an afterward social live entertainment featuring local GLBTIQQ talents at the Diversity Center, where all GLBTIQQ organizations are invited to commemorate National Coming Out Day. For a detailed schedule and information about how to get involved, contact STRANGE at 425-3115 or email sccstrange@yahoo.com.
