Learn more about Prop 54, aka the CRENO initiative, a dangerous, deceptive, and irresponsible measure that would undercut the growing environmental justice movement in California. Officially titled the “Racial Privacy Initiative" and introduced by Ward Connerly, the UC Regent appointed by Governor Pete Wilson, this proposition would damage our ability to collect information to address disparities by race or ethnicity in healthcare, education, and environment. By banning the collection of demographic information, Prop 54 takes away powerful tools to identify and measure how well we’re doing to treat, educate, and protect all Californians. KPFA commentator Joy Moore and representatives from the Coalition for an Informed California will explain the implications of Prop 54, answer questions, and provide tools to spread the word and help defend environmental and social justice in the state.
