Oppose the FCC's plan to give away our airwaves--an already scarce public resource that is vital to democracy--and show Congress, which considering legislation to overturn FCC decision, that the movement against media monopolization isn't going away. On Sept, dozens of cities will stage protests outside of media outlets to demand an end to the media monopoly and rollback of the new ownership rules. Come share your voices!!!!!
Despite opposition of more than half a million people and hundreds of organizations, the federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted on June 2 to allow the media behemoths that already dominate our airwaves--the likes of General Electric, Rupert Murdoch AOL-Time Warner, and Viacom--to gobble up even more TV stations and local newspapers. On Sept. 4, the FCC's new media ownership regulations go into effect.
