For Immediate Release "Challenging Space" Exhibition of international students and educators CURATED BY ELIZABETH GERBER Location: Southern Exposure Gallery 401 Alabama Street, San Francisco Tel: 415.863.2141 http://www.soex.org Time: Tuesday, December 18th thru December 31st Gallery hours – 11am to 5pm (Monday – Saturday) Southern Exposure Gallery is host to an exhibition of collaborating high school students and educators from California, New Mexico, Israel and Australia that addresses questions of “Challenging Space.” What is space? How do artists deal with space? What is the artistic value of space? What are the fundamental metaphors of space and how are they informed within work? Can we create new space? And in what ways are spatial relationships symbolic? This unique exhibition provides professional development opportunities for the students and their teachers by becoming part of an international event. This exhibition crosses disciplines of photographs, paintings, ceramics, sculptures, video, multi-media and installation. Organizers include: David Arnold, project coordinator; Sue Harris & Phillip Bannigan, Art-Bytes Australia, Bonnie Hall, Artist's Alliance of California/Art-Bytes US Opening Reception - Dec 22 time 1 - 4 pm Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
