Splitting the Sky - Former Political Prisoner & Native American Revolutionary
From a background of orphanages and boarding schools, Splitting the Sky emerged as a principal leader of the Attica rebellion at the age of nineteen, and later became involved with the American Indian Movement. Splitting the Sky will discuss past and present Native peoples struggles against the occupational government of the United States, the Attica rebellion and it's relevance in North American revolt history, and the necessity of intensifying our struggles for liberation in the face of escalating state violence.
Linda Evans is an anti-imperialist revolutionary who spent nearly 16 years in prison as a political prisoner. She was convicted of conspiracy to protest and change U.S. government policies, domestic, and international, with acts of armed struggle. She currently lives in the Bay Area and is an activist for the freedom of remaining political prisoners. Linda will share the lessons she's learned from her years on the frontlines, and she'll discuss new developments in the fight against the politics of imprisonment.
