When the history of the late 20th Century peoples' movement for Justice and Peace is written, the figure of Dacajeweiah Splitting the Sky John Hill will stand tall. From a background of orphanages and boarding schools, Splitting the Sky emerged as a principal leader of the Attica rebellion at the age of nineteen, and later became a major figure with the American Indian Movement. Splitting the Sky is a powerful & articulate public lecturer. Drawing on his experiences in boarding schools, in prisons, and in perpetual struggle against the United States government, Splitting the Sky offers invaluable insight into the nature of the system we are up against and the necessity of dismantling it. At his upcoming presentation at the Ecology Center, Splitting the Sky will discuss past and present Native peoples struggles against corporate control and environmental racism, and the need for building a broad-based resistance movement to fight against all forms of oppression, and for land, freedom, and self-determination for all peoples.
