May 16-18, 2003 Friday, May 16, 7 to 9PM, 522 Valencia St., San Francisco Come to a powerful and informative slideshow/lecture on the history of Palestine; presented by Jess Ghannam, professor of psychiatry at UCSF (Donation requested -- Fundraiser for the work of ISM) Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, 9:45 AM till 5:30 PM Weekend training for all those interested in doing solidarity work in Palestine this spring or summer. This weekend intensive will help prepare you to go to Palestine with the International Solidarity Movement or other human rights groups. Hosted by The Northern California Support Group of the International Solidarity Movement. (No charge, but bring a potluck lunch item to share!) We will work collaboratively to address topics including: History and politics of Palestinian liberation struggle Non-violent direct action in Palestine Cross-cultural issues for U.S. internationals traveling to Palestine History and structure of the International Solidarity Movement Affinity group formation, functions, and consensus decision making for solidarity work in Palestine Issues of racism, privilege, and oppression for internationals in Palestine The potential dangers involved, coping with stress and trauma Media work ....and much more.
