Join us for a lunch-time discussion with the
muckraking reporter Greg Palast. He has uncovered
scandal, fraud, corruption, and lies in the highest
seats of power—from the White House to corporate
America. Known in Britain as "the greatest
investigative reporter of our time" (Tribune
magazine), Palast has broken some of the biggest
stories of the past decade, including:
- How Bush killed the FBI's investigation of the
financing of terrorist organizations by Saudi Arabia
- How the Bush family stole the election in Florida
- How Enron cheated, lied, and swindled its way into
an energy monopoly
Palast is an award-winning reporter for BBC
Television’s Newsnight and The Observer of London, his
extraordinary reports have been front page news in
Europe, yet blocked out of America’s mainstream
media. A former World Bank Chief Economist told
Palast that the bank, "condemned people to death." A
gold mining company sued him for his story about their
alleged connections to a homicidal regime in Africa.
For these reasons and more, Guerrilla News Network,
named Palast 2002 "Reporter of the Year."
This is a great opportunity to ask Greg questions in
an intimate setting, pick up a copy of "The Best
Democracy Money Can Buy" and to support your local
Independent Media Center. Sponsored by New college
Media Studies MA Program.
