At times, the ability to envision this happening becomes difficult, thus the importance of this film festival which in powerful, visual ways presents a broad, though not comprehensive, sweep of activist history to inspire and support our activism hasta la victoria siempre. Saturday November 30 - Eight films on two screens 10 am - Winstanley (the ‘diggers’ struggle to reclaim the commons in 1649) 12:30 pm - Freedom on My Mind (civil rights) 12:30 pm - Harlem County (labor) 3 pm - Rebels with a Cause: The History of SDS (student activism) 3 pm - Witness to the Future (environmental activism) 5:30 pm - After Stonewall (queer activism) 5:30 pm - Zapatista (indigenous revolt) 8 pm - This is what Democracy Looks Like (Seattle, the WTO and Global Justice movement, 1999). Sunday, December 1 - Special showing of La Commune 1 - 6 pm - A special screening of the amazing six hour long Peter Watkins film – La Commune – the name given to the French revolutionary government established by the people of Paris in 1871.
