On International Human Rights Day, with local anti-war actions taking place around the country (www.unitedforpeace.org), it is crucial that we consider how to diversify and strengthen our reponses to the destruction and terror happening around the world. Helena Norberg-Hodge, author of Ancient Futures and Bringing the Food Economy Home, and director of the International Society for Ecology and Culture, will discuss how building local food systems contributes to global peace and sustainability.
Helena’s talk will begin at 7:30pm, followed by a reception with local food, wine and music.
This event will also mark the launch of ISEC’s Local Food Toolkit, which provides a multimedia outline of the arguments for localization. Get a sneak peak of posters and a slideshow that illustrate the impacts of our global food system and its roots in economic globalization.
This evening, entitled “Bringing the Food Economy Home,” is sponsored by the International Society for Ecology and Culture, which works to highlight the root causes of global economic, social, and environmental breakdown and promote alternatives that will preserve biological and cultural diversity.
$5-$10 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds
