Please join us for an evening of inspiration with two powerful indigenous women from projects affiliated with IDEX partner organization K'inal Antzetik ("Land of Women"). Marla Gutierrez is on the communications team of La Coordinadora de los Altos, a civil society organization which works to educate and mobilize indigenous communities to defend their rights. She will give an update on the current situation and the grassroots movement against the Plan Puebla Panama. Celerina Nuñez Ruíz works with Jolom Mayaetik, a 250-member fair trade crafts cooperative with sales in Europe and the US. She will address the effect of the fair trade movement on the empowerment of indigenous women.
Beautiful crafts and holiday gifts will be offered for sale at the event.
Please RSVP to heather@idex.org.
Co-sponsored by the Mexico Solidarity Network, Seva Foundation and Casa Bonampak.
