by Dan Bacher
"Louder Than Words," the Black Panther Party Photo exhibit, will be exhibited in the Golden State Museum in Sacramento from January 27 through May 15.
Press Release: For Immediate Release January 12, 2004

It's About Time Presents "Louder Than Words": The Black Panther Party Photo Exhibit

The Black Panther Party (BPP) captured the imagination of the oppressed people throughout the world. Its life span lasted from 1966-1982. Although the focus of the organization changed throughout the years, the BPP produced a rich and multifaceted legacy that significantly impacted the Black Liberation struggle.

"Louder than Words" - Come view this rare and historical photo exhibit depicting the growth and development of the BPP in America. Over 60 pictures show BPP members and community workers doing daily fieldwork; as well as photos of Huey P. Newton, Bobby Seale, Angela Davis, George Jackson, Stokey Carmichael and H. Rap. Brown- leaders of the Black liberation Movement of the 1960's and 1970's.

BPP members and supporters implemented a variety of survival programs to meet the needs of the community. Survival programs served as an organizing tool in which to expose the inequities and contradictions within the United States.

The photo exhibit is part of our ongoing educational programs about the Black Panther Party and its historical legacy. Through this exhibit you will see the programs in action and see the faces of the people whom the party served. These photos were taken by Stephen Shames, Jahti Jackson, Jeffrey Blankfort and Ducho who was a BPP member.

"Louder Than Words" will be exhibited at the Golden State Museum, 1020 "O" Street, Sacramento, CA from January 27 through May 15.
