Acosta was on patrol when his Bradley vehicle hit and detonated two improvised explosive devices in Taji, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Hood, Texas. Died on November 11, 2003.
Army Pfc. Steven Acosta, 19, of Calexico, California.
Acosta died from a non-hostile gunshot wound in Baqubah, Iraq. He was assigned to C Company, 3rd Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on October 26, 2003.
Navy Lt. Thomas Mullen Adams, 27, of La Mesa, California.
Killed when two Royal Navy Sea King helicopters collided over international waters. He was assigned as an exchange officer with the Royal Navy's 849 Squadron since October 2002. Died on March 22, 2003.
Army Cpl. Evan Asa Ashcraft, 24, of West Hills, California.
Killed north of Al Hawd, Iraq, when his military convoy came under enemy fire. Ashcraft was assigned to the Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on July 24, 2003.
Army Staff Sgt. Stephen A. Bertolino, 40, of Orange, California.
Bertolino was traveling in a convoy in Husaybah, Iraq when his vehicle was hit by enemy fire. He was assigned to Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on November 29, 2003.
Marine Sgt. Michael E. Bitz, 31, of Ventura, California.
Killed in action in the vicinity of An Nasiriyah. He was assigned to the 2nd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on March 23, 2003.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Kelly Bolor, 37, of Whittier, California.
Bolor died when two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crashed in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to the 137th Quartermaster Company, U.S. Army Reserve, South El Monte, California. Died on November 15, 2003.
Army Staff Sgt. Steven H. Bridges, 33, of Tracy, California.
Bridges was in a Stryker vehicle when it flipped into a canal in Ad Duluiyah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on December 8, 2003.
Army 2nd Lt. Todd J. Bryant, 23, of Riverside, California.
Bryant was on patrol in Al Fallujah, Iraq when an improvised explosive device exploded. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died on October 31, 2003.
Army Staff Sgt. Richard A. Burdick, 24, of National City, California.
Burdick was in a convoy when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on December 10, 2003.
Army Pfc. Jose Casanova, 23, of El Monte, California.
Casanova was in a HMMWV when an Iraqi dump truck swerved and rolled over on top of his vehicle. Casanova was one of two soldiers who were killed in this incident. Casanova was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died on October 13, 2003.

Chris was fatally wounded in Iraq in combat operations in hostile enemy territory. Chris was assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. Died on June 25, 2003.
Army Spc. Arron R. Clark, 20, of Chico, California.
Clark was on a convoy mission in Baghdad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated. He was assigned to the 440th Signal Battalion, 22nd Signal Brigade, V Corps, based in Darmstadt, Germany. Died on December 5, 2003.
Army Spc. Michael A. Diraimondo, 22, of Simi Valley, California.
Diraimondo was a crew member onboard a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter when it crashed near Fallujah, Iraq while on a MEDEVAC mission. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance), Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on January 8, 2004.
Marine Pfc. Francisco A. Martinez-Flores, 21, of Los Angeles, California.
Killed during convoy operations when the bridge his tank was travelling over collapsed into the Euphrates River. He was assigned to the 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on March 25, 2003.

Killed in action when his AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter crashed during combat operations near Ali-Ariziyal, Iraq. Assigned to the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) - 267, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on April 4, 2003.

Killed while manning a checkpoint in Baghdad. He was assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on April 12, 2003.
Marine Cpl. Jorge A. Gonzalez, 20, of Los Angeles, California.
Killed in action in the vicinity of An Nasiriyah. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on March 23, 2003.

Killed in Iraq along with another First Marine Expeditionary Force Marine when unexploded ordnance they were handling detonated. He was assigned to the 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on May 12, 2003.
Army Cpl. Sean R. Grilley, 24, of San Bernardino, California.
Grilley and other soldiers were attempting to negotiate with armed men who were congregating after curfew on a road near a mosque in Karbala, Iraq. The Iraqis opened fire killing three soldiers and wounding seven others. The soldiers were assigned to the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on October 16, 2003.
Marine Lance Cpl. Jose Gutierrez, 22, of Los Angeles, California.
Killed in action in southern Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on March 21, 2003.
Army Sgt. Michael S. Hancock, 29, of Yreka, California.
Hancock was shot while on guard duty in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on October 24, 2003.
Army Sgt. Atanacio Haro-Marin, 27, of Baldwin Park, California.
Haro-Marin was manning a checkpoint south of Balad, Iraq when his unit came under enemy fire from rocket propelled grenades and small arms. Haro-Marin was assigned to Battery C, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on June 3, 2003.
Army Sgt. Keicia M. Hines, 27, of Citrus Heights, California.
Hines died when she was struck by a vehicle on Mosul Airfield in Mosul, Iraq. She was assigned to the 108th Military Police, Combat Support Co., Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died on January 14, 2004.
Army Sgt. Troy David Jenkins, 25, of Ridgecrest, California.
Died of Wounds received in action. On April 19, Sgt. Jenkins was on a dismounted patrol with other soldiers when he was injured as result of an explosion. He was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on April 24, 2003.

Killed when his vehicle fell into a ravine. He was assigned to the 41st Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on April 4, 2003.
Navy Lt. Kylan A. Jones-Huffman, 31, of Aptos, California.
Jones-Huffman was killed by an unidentified gunman in Al Hillah, Iraq. He was on temporary duty with the I Marine Expeditionary Force. Died on August 21, 2003.
Marine Capt. Andrew David LaMont, 31, of Eureka, California.
Died when his CH-46 Sea-Knight helicopter went down in the Shatt Al Hillah Canal in Iraq shortly after take-off. The helicopter was conducting a resupply mission in support of civil military operations. He was assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron - 364, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on May 19, 2003.
Army Pfc. Karina S. Lau, 20, of Livingston, California.
Lau was on board a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter when it went down in Al Fallujah, Iraq. The cause of the incident is unknown and an investigation is underway. She was assigned to the 16th Signal Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on November 2, 2003.
Army Pfc. Pablo Manzano, 19, of Heber, California.
Manzano died as a result of a non-combat weapons discharge in Logistical Support Area Dogwood, Iraq. Manzano was assigned to B Company, 54th Engineer Battalion, V Corps, Bamberg, Germany. Died on August 25, 2003.
Marine Cpl. Douglas Jose Marencoreyes, 28, of Chino, California.
Died when the large transport truck he was driving rolled over approximately 30 km southeast of Al Samawah, Iraq. Marencoreyes was a reservist assigned to the 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Headquarters and Service Company, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on May 18, 2003.
Army Sgt. 1st Class John W. Marshall, 50, of Los Angeles, California.
Killed in action in Iraq. Marshall was struck by an enemy rocket propelled grenade during an enemy ambush in Baghdad. Marshall was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on April 8, 2003.

Killed in combat. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on March 27, 2003.

Menyweather died of his injuries after an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle in Baqubah, Iraq. He was assigned to Company C, 588th Engineer Battalion, 4th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Hood, Texas. Died on November 23, 2003.

Mihalakis died as a result of injuries sustained in a non-combat vehicle accident at the Baghdad International Airport in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to the 270th Military Police Company, 49th Military Police Battalion, 100th Troop Command, California Combat Support Command, Army National Guard, based in Fairfield, California. Died on December 26, 2003.
