Community Colleges Plan Protest March to Sacramento!
Community Colleges are planning a huge march to Sacramento on March 15 to protest fee hikes and budget cuts. Endorse the march, donate and even join us to protect education!
Community College fees are being raised to $26 per unit after being raised from $12 to $18 per unit just last year. Students with a Bachelor’s degree that are returning to college will now pay $50 per unit under the Schwarzenegger budget plan.
Proposition 98 guarantee has been suspended and K-14 schools are getting $2 billion less.
UC and CSU schools face 10% fee hikes as well as 10% cuts in enrollment. Graduate students will now pay 40% more for school and middle-income students will be offered less financial aid.
Thus, we declare the March in March to protest this war on education.
Chabot college in Hayward, California is planning to send 500 students to Sacramento. We are currently in the planning process and looking for endorsements and donations.
