MESSAGE FROM BAKERSFIELD

I am writing from chilly Bakersfield to send greetings to my cohorts in the North! I am Whitney Weddell, and I am the coordinator for the Bakersfield chapter of Marriage Equality California, MECA. Since Bako and Fresno have the conservative Valley politics in common, I have been asked to send out a call in your area for people who would like to be involved in building the
coalitions we need to bring about the reality of LGBT Marriage. You are receiving this email because at some point in the last couple of years, you signed up for more information about MECA.

Here in Bako, we have been using Meetup.com to bring people together on our issues, who heretofore had not even met each other. The Gay Rights Meetup is scheduled internationally for January 13, at 8pm. We have a meeting scheduled in Bako; if anyone reading this email is interested, you could get one going in Fresno. The website is: http://www.gayrights.meetup.com. Our group went swiftly from just me to more than twelve in just a month. Try it!

I am committed to this Meetup in Bakersfield, but if Fresno can get one going, I would be happy to attend in Fresno in February to help you get rolling. Please keep me informed!

In the meantime, please allow me to extend an invitation to join us at our Valentine's Day Party, a benefit for LGBT Marriage Rights. We are planning music, dancing, food, Valentine's photos and lots of fun! Please RSVP to me if you'd like to come, and I'll send you all the details, along with
