As you can see form teh following photo series, proNewsom signs were allowed in the crowd but anything critical of Newsom or Brown was pushed off the the side and surrounded by police.

What about that 47% poster? And if no dissentive posters were allowed, who were the police harrasing in that other picture?

The guy with the "47% poster" was off near the "protest pin" that was setup by the police to keep anyone with anti-Newsom signs away from the press. He was right next to the "Thank God For Term Limits" sign you can see being pushed off to the side in http://www.indybay.org/news/2004/01/1667329.php
