1/13 SF Rally to Save AIDS Drug Assistance Program
What: Rally in San Francisco to protest Governor Schwarzenegger's proposal to create a waiting list for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program. California's budget should not be balanced on the backs of people who need life-saving treatment!
What: Rally in San Francisco to protest Governor Schwarzenegger's proposal to create a waiting list for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program. California's budget should not be balanced on the backs of people who need life-saving treatment!
When: Tuesday, January 13, 2004, 12:00 Noon
Where: State Building, McAllister Street between Polk and Hyde, San Francisco
Bring: Friends, colleagues, clients, anyone who wants to save California's ADAP. Bring signs too!)
Why: The AIDS Drug Assistance Program provides access to treatment for low-income Californians living with HIV/AIDS who are uninsured or lack adequate prescription drug coverage. It is a lifeline for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford treatment. Governor Schwarzenegger has proposed that enrollment in this program be capped at its current level of 23,500. It is estimated that over 1,440 people with HIV or AIDS would be placed on a waiting list for critical HIV medications within one year. Please add your voice to the opposition to this proposal!
Governor Schwarzenegger must release must release his draft State budget for the 2004-05 fiscal year on January 9, 2004. This draft budget could include cuts to HIV/AIDS services in addition to denying access to ADAP. It is critical that our community come together quickly to oppose any proposed service cuts!
Organization endorsements for this rally are needed! To endorse, please email Ryan Clary at rclary [at] projectinform.org with the name of your organization and a contact person.
