Kucinich is my Dem

by Fowenu (roamfree [at] ziplip.com)
Why has Dennis Kucinich's campaign so far been ignored by the media? How can we use a presidential campaign to reach the the people of the US?
Arriving at my mothers place for the holidays, I am thrust into the universe of primetime slime news shows, game shows, and sitcoms. I like to see what my family is being exposed to, just as I would like to have a test done of their water. On tap for tonight was a representative from Conscience International who was more or less humored as he expressed concerns for the way Saddam Hussein is being treated, explicitly the fact that the U.S. is (once again) in violation of the Geneva Convention.
Next story was how democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean may be too far left for voters! Please! This man looks half dead and also supported "ethnic cleansing" (Genocide!) in Kosovo, as well as several other ill-advised military blunders. This may not surprise many of you out there, but I think it is worth noting that the conservative media is making every conceivable and inconceivable spin towards fascism it can muster. Those of us who find it important to reach the mainstream population of this country need to bear this in mind. It is worth repeating often that we operate in an environment of fear and misinformation. The alternative offered by the expert on this show as a presidential hopeful more "in line" with the "middle" is General So-and-So (Egad!) and homemade vegan cookies to anyone that can find dirt on this candidate.
Aren't Americans disgusted with their unelected president and his fascist policies? My opinion has long been that a presidential candidate that exposes the current administration for what it is and promises to bring back sensibility to government is what will sweep the United States citizens off their feet- not a candidate that kowtows to the right. That is why I am disappointed that the campaign of Denis Kucinich has thus far been somewhat underground, even in progressive circles. True, my mother has heard of him, but perhaps that’s because she lives in Ohio, the state in which he recently served as Congressman. I encourage everyone to study the platform of this candidate. Granted, he is (in my own words)"another white guy in a suit and tie", yet he wishes an immediate withdrawal of our troops (Dean would leave them there for "a few years") and the creation of a Department of the Peace. You can learn more about him at http://kucinich.us/.
