Police pull KKK speed stunt

The incident happened in August 2001, and at the time police were unable to identify the suspects, who were pictured travelling at twice the speed limit in Bunbury, 180 kilometres south of Perth.

Officers vowed to catch the perpetrators, saying it was a dangerous stunt designed to taunt police.

The investigation has now revealed that the car involved was an unmarked police car, and its two occupants officers from Bunbury Police Station.

The regional police commander, Darryl Balchin, said that that it was very unlikely the pair would keep their jobs.

"Here we are in this day and age talking about road safety... here we have two of our own causing some grief and it's an embarrassment to us," he said

One of the officers is on sick leave and the other is on reduced duties, while a full investigation is carried out.
