Kucinich will be taking BART from SF to Hayward on Monday

Kucinich knows he wont win the nomination. What exactly is the point in spending any energy supporting him. He makes some good statements about ending the war in Iraq during debates but if he causes people to tune in they will mainly just hear Dean and Co. telling Americans that we need to send more troops to kill and die for the US oil supply.

So you support Kucinich during the primary. You know he will lose but then you got Dean (or someone to the right of Dean) as the nominee next year. Kucinich will back Dean almost surely so all the energy that went into Kucinich will then go into electing a proWar candidate who supports the death penalty.

If you can guarantee that Kucinich will take a principled stand and oppose any Democratic nominee that supports keeping troops in Iraq I could see some point in liking Kucinich. But do you really think he will do that?

The problem with Democrats is they tend to line up behind other Democrats. Kucinich will back Dean for the same reason he would have backed Gavin Newsom if he was asked. Democrats are spineless. Do you really think Kucinich is more principled than Jesse Jackson?

To make real change in the world you have to think globally and act locally. When the Democratic Party is so intent on screwing us over locally (with people like Gavin Newsom and Jerry Brown) and so willing to use the national party structure to prevent positive local change, why should we trust another Democrat? Didn't Jerry Brown play the Kucinich role several elections ago and run as the far left candidate who couldnt win? I have to now live in a city ruled by this asshole and I'm not going to be fooled again!!!

A vote for Kucinich is a vote for Newsom in 2007. If Kucinich were to leave the party than maybe we could trust him. The problem isnt just the candidates, its the party machine and in the Bay Area we should be doing everything we can to weaken it so it cant do to us again what it did last Tuesday.

If you support Kucinich because he supported your stand on Diebold or anything else you are no better than the people who fell for Newsom's last minute lies. Support for Kucinich is support for the Democrats and support for the Democrats is support for Newsom (who they spent more energy trying to elect than any other mayor in the US).

Are we to just fogive the Democrats within a week for screwing over San Francisco? Are we to sit back and forget that even Jesse Jackson was made to rally support for Newsom's evil rise to power? When the Democrats see progressives have no spine, of course they screw us over. They know enough progressives wont take their anger out on the Party that they can do whatever they want to us and we will sit and take it. Stand up for something and demand that if Kucinich doesnt ditch the Democrats he will get zero support from progressives! Supporting Kucinich is just shovelling money into Newsom's 2007 campaign (even if you dont give the money your support encourages others to give and as we saw with Newsom the entire Democratic Party will do everything it can to prevent real change)

Less than a week ago Jesse Jackson (along with most other "progressive" leaders of the Democratic Party) decided to they valued their Party more than they valued our support. They stepped in and changed the outcome of the SF election and guaranteed that an anti-tenant, anti-homeless rich kid could become the next mayor of San Francisco.

And now several of the very people who backed Matt Gonzalez have already forgiven the Democratic Party and are raising money for it with this event. Whats next? Is KPFA going to rehire Jerry Brown when he gets out of office and give him a show about police brutality.

Can it be any more Ironic. The very week the prospect of public power is stolen from San Francisco by the Democrats, people are raising money for the Democrats and touting the event as being for public power. Where exactly does money for Kucinich go? What percentage goes to the Party now and what percentage will go to support a proWar candidate (who wants to send MORE troops to Iraq than Bush) after Dean is nominated.

A problem I see here is there're quite a few ghoulish moles, sent by the evil Karl Rove Sauron, sowing evil lies everywhere. Do these ghoulish moles get paid by their evil master, or they do their evil deeds so that their evil master will spare their worthless lives?

So you don't understand that supporting the same party as that backed Newsom a week after they threw everything they had to get Newsom elected pretty much gives permission to the Democrats to screw us anytime they see fit with no consequences whatsoever? They know the normal reaction will be as you just said. We HAVE to support a Democrat or we are supporting the Republicans so they have nothing to lose if they back someone like Newsom. There are no consequences so they will do it again and again and again and again and again....

Im tired of HAVING to go along with this shit anymore. If Kucinich is so great, perhaps he will ditch the Democrats, but I think its unlikely and by supporting Kucinich next week we have basically given our ok to the Democrats actions with regard to Newsom. Why wasnt Kucinich here last week stumping for Matt? Why did he come the week after the election? Its a test. If you say yes to Kucinich, the Democrats have a clear confirmation that their support for Newsom will have no real consequences.

It hasnt even been a fucking week and the Democrats have come crawling for our support AND PEOPLE ARE FALLING FOR IT!!!!

The Democratic Party will be working overtime to contain any damage caused by their screwing over SF. They have great PR teams which are much better than Newsom could ever afford so it will probably work. Next year the same people who supported Matt will be supporting a proWar Democrat as the lesser of two evils and giving money to a Party that will throw even more weight behind Newsom in 2007.
