12/2 4 pm , Stop Hunter's Pt. Shipyard Sellout flyer
Redevelopment meets Tuesday 4 pm room 416 city hall. Show up and Speak out!
STOP REDEVELOPMENT FROM TEARING DOWN BAYVIEW HUNTERS POINT & EVICTING RESIDENTS!!!
TUESDAY DEC. 2
4 PM CITY HALL ROOM 416
• Willie Brown’s hand-picked Redevelopment Commission plans to give control of the Hunter’s Point Shipyard to Lennar, a huge corp. known for building houses on its own toxic dumps — however the Shipyard cleanup is far from complete and the Community Advisory Committee’s objections are unresolved (CAC had only 30 days to review the 1000 page deal)
• Redevelopment will also vote on a sneaky “Amendment” that would declare 1737 acres — nearly all of Bayview Hunters Point — a “blighted” area. This is the first step to tearing down the neighborhood and clearing out the low-income largely African American population in public housing near the Shipyard — adding to the value of Lennar’s development.
Redevelopment wants to rush this all through before Brown leaves office.
As Mayor, Matt Gonzalez would insist that the toxic areas be cleaned up before any development, that the local people of color get jobs, and that the community participate fully and gain full benefits from the development.
SHOW UP AND SPEAK UP
Tell the Redevelopment Commission NO WAY!!!
