More than a million people participated in the People's Anti-War Referendum. Through your participation and activism, we together have forged something the world has never seen, a powerful anti-war movement that became a political force even before war was initiated. Although the Bush gang defied the will of the people and moved forward with the war to seize Iraq, their dream of conquering that country has led to a massive crisis for the Administration.
Your activism is needed now more than ever. The world is uniting in opposition to the U.S. occupation of Iraq. This war was built upon lies. Hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops were told that they would be welcomed as liberators and not occupiers. Bechtel, Halliburton and the oil and banking corporations will make billions from the takeover and privatization of Iraq. But every day the occupation continues, more military families will be delivered the news of their loved one's death or injury, just as tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed and maimed. Bush and Congress must be held accountable for this criminal endeavor.

How You Can Get Involved:
* Distribute cards and petitions in your area. You can do this by dropping of petitions at local coffee shops, setting up a table outside your local grocery store, or simply collecting signatures from friends. Contact ANSWER at 415-821-6545 or answer [at] actionsfbay.org to have copies mailed or emailed to you.
* If you live in the Bay Area, join other activists in setting up referendum tables outside of grocery stores and BART stations to gather names on the petition. THIS SATURDAY, 11/8, JOIN US TO HELP PETITION! Join us this Saturday to set up referendum tables in San Francisco and the East Bay to gather names for the referendum. We will meet at the ANSWER office at 11 am at 2489 Mission St. Rm. 24 (near 21st) in San Francisco. Call us at 415-821-6545 to arrange to meet up with the East Bay team.

* ANSWER also has organizers who are available to speak about the war and the Bring the Troops Home Now campaign to your class, union, faith community or workplace. Contact us to set up a speaking engagement at answer [at] actionsfbay.org or 415-821-6545
