Calpine, Medicine Lake and Bolivia

by sun and wind
Calpine Energy corporation is attempting to drill sacred tribal site Medicine Lake for geothermal and import liquified natural gas (LNG or CNG) from Bolivia against the will of the Bolivian people.
Calpine is attempting to pass itself off as a clean energy alternative with geothermal and liquified natural gas (LNG). This is misinformation as drilling under Medicine Lake will release hydrogen sulfide (H2S) toxic vapor that will pollute the lake and alter its healing potential. Medicine Lake was sacred to several NorCal tribes (Shasta, Karuk, Wintu, Pit River) as a healing lake for centuries before Calpine. Now Calpine with support of GW Bush is about to alter this lake forever so they can export energy to Reno's casinos..

The strikes in Bolivia were a result of extraction of LNG by Pacific Natural Gas Consortium (50% owned by British Petroleum) without consent of the Bolivian people. This LNG is bound for the United States, specifically California. Some will end up in Humboldt Bay if Calpine has their way. This industry is polluting similar to oil refineries, though not as much (lower carbon content). For this reason it is passed off as "clean energy". In reality it is the lesser evil..

If Calpine is willing to destroy sacred Medicine Lake to benefit casinos in Reno, how will they treat one of the last unpolluted bays in CA?

To answer the inevitable "we need jobs" arguement, people need good food (free of petroleum based pesticides), clean air and water for survival. When billionaires hoard all the money and control resources, submitting to more corporate wage slave labor is not the answer..

The people of Richmond CA know about environmental racism from Chevron's oil refinery. Most employees live far from Chevron's carcinogenic fumes that plague Richmond residents. If we allow this pattern to repeat in Eureka, we have learned submission to corporations, nothing else..

Solar and wind energy are free once the equipment (photovoltaic/windmill) is in place, any wonder why it hasn't gone mainstream yet?

Could a corporation claim ownership of sun and wind?
