Heroes and Heroines in action
Referring to these creative actions as vandalism is an uptight lack of appreciation of creative critiquing of the corporate culture dominating our lives. The bit of including a statement that they were leaving to protect small business was a wonderful touch. These are true artists.
What an unbeilivably briliant idea!
You know what would upset Starbucks inc. more than anything else ? Far more than some revolutionary slogans . A SERIOUS UNION ORGANIZING DRIVE AT THE STORES . Why dont a couple dozen gainfully unemployed young radicals put their applications in at Starbucks (if neccasary removing at least a few of their body piercing rings. studs , etc. i know its a huge sacifice but a earlier generation of radicals trimmed their hair a few inches to get on at auto plants s , steel mills , warehouses etc, ) . and if hired (hopefully scattered out over several stores ) after you have been there a few months start ''talking union '' to your co-workers . Whether the union in question is the u.f.c.w. , h.r.e., or the i.w.w. is of secondary importance . The Starbucks mang. would go nuts . Just a thought .
[big snip]They took a lot of risks to send a message to Starbuck's
customers.
customers.
Cal: "What did [the customers] think when [the customers] learned it was not real, that it was a prank, that it was designed to get [the customers] to reevaluate who [the customers] were supporting every single morning before [the customers] went to work?"
[Authors note: It really doesn't matter who the message was directed at, as the message was received by customers and corporate alike].
