Mary 4 Mayor: Pictures From Gay Shame Street Party Against Newsom

by Z
Newsom wants to turn San Francisco into a quiet haven for his yuppie supporters. The Gay Shame protests against Gavin brought back memories of San Francisco's better days when people moved here because of their politics and sexuality not because they wanted to make a quick buck.

If antiwar protests looked like this rather than those boring ANSWER marchs, perhaps the anti-war protests would be growing rather than shrinking. Gay Shame shows that serious issues can be dealt with while still keeping protests fun and exciting.

Its a shame Newsom will probably get elected. I hate Newsom's policies on the homeless and his ties to the Republican right but his election will say a lot more about SF than about Newsom. Its easy for people to pretend like they care about people in far away countries but its a lot harder to deal with local issues that may have costs attached. Newsom's election will hurt poor people in SF far more than Bush or Arnold ever could but all the mainstream activist organizations wont focus on him since they are afraid of pissing off landlords, small business owners, and libertarians from the Marina.

Change is easier when the focus of activism is local. Its time for tens of thousands to take to the streets to stop Newsom. Newsom's election will result in a greater police crackdown on all forms of protest in the city (his statements about the protests when the war started should make this clear). We need to ALL get together and stop Newsom before it is too late.

Well, I guess Halloween is a year-round event in San Francisco. Did you every realize that Gay Shame is part of San Francisco's problems? I appreciate free speech, but I think that it is time for a few investigations! Some of you seem just a little strange, and quite frankly disturbing. It is your politics that maintain San Francisco's homelessness problem since you prefer the status quo over positive change. To think about it, you protest death around the world, and don't even want to stop at home. What type of messed up hypocrits are you? You should ashamed with yourselves.
