ISRAELI PRISON STAFF MOLESTS CHILDREN TO EXTRACT FALSE CONFESSIONS

Palestinian Prisoners Society lawyers visited the Israeli prison, Atsion, near Hebron yesterday. They have returned with stories from the 60 Palestinian political prisoners of rape and molestation, particularly among the children, severe beatings and inadequate health care at the hands of prison officials, investigators, and guards. "The reality is, it's everybody," a man who has recently returned from prison says.

The lawyers from the Prisoners Society, Mohammad Ashedfam and Jacqueline Ferarja said the prisoners are living in devastating conditions and are so fearful they jump when someone enters the room.


Anis Ahmed Juwabri is a 16 year old child from Al Arub near Hebron. He told the lawyers, “The IOF beat me and told me they would rape me if I didn’t confess. One of the investigators touched my body, molested me. Because I was very frightened I said I did things I didn’t do.”

Faiz Namura is 19 years old. He is from Dura Village near Hebron and reported to the lawyers, “I am suffering from very bad pain. I have a heart condition and shortness of breath. My medical condition is always getting worse. The IOF sent me to the Israeli hospital, Hadasa Ein Karam. But I didn’t get any medical treatment there. They took me from the hospital back to the prison without helping me, when I really needed medical care.”

Baha Aduwan, a 19 year old from Hebron, told the lawyers, “The investigators in Atsion put me in an electric chair and tied me in with iron cables, including my legs and hands. They said they would push the button for the electricity in the chair if I didn’t confess, so I said everything I did not do. I said anything they wanted.”
