It is really sad that you would choose to publish someone like Cockburn who's made a career out of denigrating George Orwell and the Spanish Anarchists. When is the Paul Robeson CD ("Odes to Stalin") going to be released you sell outs?

Hey anarchist, AK isn't selling out by printing and promoting the cretin Cockburn--they "sold out" long ago. They are interested in gleaning the profits from the sale of materials by Stalinists like Angela Davis, social democrats like Michael Albert (as if he didn't have a publishing outfit already--South End Press!), liberals like Chomsky, celebrities like Chumbawamba, etc. to gullible fake anarchists and "progressives." When has it not been about the money? AK Press is a capitalist oufit--if it weren't, they wouldn't be able to continue publishing and distributing the wide variety of stuff they pander as "radical literature." They would publish the most anti-anarchist nonsense if they thought it would sell at a profit large enought to help maintain their ever-growing empire (I once heard them referred to as the Barnes & Noble of anarchism). This is the logic and anti-ethical world of what the Marxists call the Petit Bourgeoisie. Welcome to the real world. Let's face it, if AK Press restricted themselves to publishing and distributing only anarchist literature and material, they'd be out of business. And business is the name of the game. So quit your whining about selling out. Selling books sells books--who cares if a self-described anarchist publisher is publishing anti-anarchist authors? That's just a bourgeois luxury and an infantile disorder on your part.

Dude, take a chill pill. If you didn't see the irony and attempts to highlight the innumerable contradictions in my post that were directed at AK Press, that's neither my fault, nor is it reason to hurl insults in my direction. Don't blame the messenger. My point is that AK Press has a long, sad, history of publishing and distributing material by Stalinists and other enemies of anarchism, so this latest incident cannot possibly constitute a "sell out"--unless you haven't been paying attention for the past several years.

Alright Trip, I can dig it man, I can dig it. No doubt AK "sold out" a long time ago if they were ever "down" in the first place. But the more people who hold their feet to the fire the better. If they faced enough pressure they might be forced to change their evil ways. Who knows? But if you want to make excuses for them, I understand your points.

No excuses my friend. I find the selection of titles published by AK Press to be frighteningly incoherent, even by their own mission statement. Given the sectarian nature of some of the "collective" members, it is not surprising that only certain anarchist views get published and promoted. But given the supposedly anarchist nature of the project, it seems contradictory (at best) or hypocritical (at worst) for them to serve up a steady helping of authoritarian leftist (some call them "red fascists") swill. I can think of no excuses that would cover that--except that they are shameless opportunists pandering to the "cool factor" of rebellious post-adolescents (like "Hot Topic").
