Anne Gwynne will be presenting videos and photos on Saturday before departing for Nablus
These are videos and photographs that everyone in the US must see...indescribably powerful in it's graphic evidence offering vivid testimony of this ongoing brutal and wholly inhuman treatment of a people who remain proud, resilient, and hopeful in the face of nearly limitless cruelty at the hands of their captors.
Dear friends,
I am writing to let you know of Anne Gwynne's final presentation in the Bay Area before she returns to Nablus - the beautiful, ancient, and suffering city at the heart of Palestine. She will be presenting 275 new photographs of her six months in Nablus working with the Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees -and complementing the International Solidarity Movement. These are videos and photographs that everyone in the US must see - comprising a unique and gripping chronicle of the Palestinian crisis: created through western post war planning, funded by US citizens privately and with tax money, and implemented through the Israeli colonial occupation: the illegal military subjugation of a civilian population of some 3.5 million on their own land and in their own country. Anne's slide-show is indescribably powerful in it's graphic evidence offering vivid testimony of this ongoing brutal and wholly inhuman treatment of a people who remain proud, resilient, and hopeful in the face of nearly limitless cruelty at the hands of their captors.
Flashpoints is proud of its consistent support of the implementation of a solution to the ongoing crisis and the permanent cessation of hostilities in the Middle East. We were very happy to host Anne Gwynne's on the scene reports, and wish her safe passage and return to those she tirelessly aids. On February 22, 2003 of this year she was intentionally shot by a Israeli Occupation Force soldier while she and an ambulance driver helped a pregnant woman through the streets of Nablus. The soldiers drove off and left her to bleed by the side of the road. Despite her injury she and the driver were able to get the woman to the hospital. This is the face of the occupation which goes largely unreported.
Please, please come to this very important event. Here are the details:
"The Palestinian Crisis: Another Nakba (Catastrophe) in the Making"
Saturday, 27th September at 6.30pm (Anne's video from Nablus).
Slide-show begins at 7pm.
Redwood Gardens Community Room,
Clark Kerr Campus.
2951 Derby Street, Berkeley
The event is a fund-raiser for the children of several families in Nablus - Entry is $20, but no-one will be turned away for lack of funds. Every cent raised will go with Anne Gwynne back to Nablus to provide urgent aid for children (the situation is so severe that children are wanting the most basic of human rights - milk, food, warm clothes, and urgent medical care (you will see what is needed from the photographs).
I hope so very much to see you all there.
