SACRED continues to honour Gypsy

SACRED Freedom Fridays Presents:
Pirates at MAXXAM

Friday, September 26, 4-6 pm

See Houston's newest activist street theater troupe and be a part of Freedom Fridays as we fight for the freedom of the earth that is being held captive by these corporate pirates, and as we honour Gypsy‘s life which they‘ve taken

. Every last Friday of the month is themed street theater. The theme for this month: Pirates at MAXXAM. Come dressed ready for battle on the high seas at MAXXAM headquarters, 5847 San Felipe. Just look for the big pirate ship. Everyone has a part to play! There will be an after party/ benefit show following this event (see below). Feel free to participate, or just to observe!

In loving memory of David Nathan "Gypsy" Chain, a Houston activist who was killed on September 17,1998, when a tree was felled by a MAXXAM logger while documenting illegal logging on their land.

Memorial Service for Gypsy at his gravesite
Saturday, September 27, 2-4 pm

Join us as we commemorate the spirit of David Nathan “Gypsy” Chain at his gravesite. An open forum will include (and is not limited to) poems, prayers, music and a drum circle (so please bring anything you think you will need to participate). This event is open to anyone who would like to share. Please bring something to place on the alter and/or something to leave with Gypsy.

Location: Grandview Cemetary. Pasadena, TX.

Carpool: From KPFT Studios (419 Lovett Blvd. in Montrose). We'll leave no later than 12:30 pm. There is room in a van, please call to confim space availability- 713-858-0074.

Directions: Take 45 S. Merge ontp 610 E. via exit number 40 B (toward TX-225). Then merge onto TX-225 E. via exit number 30 B (toward PASADENA LA PORTE. Take the exit toward Center Street. Stay straight to go onto Pasadena Frwy. Turn right on Center Street. Turn Left on Spencer Hwy. The cemetery is ? miles down, on the left.
