Japanese Pop Group Recruits for Japan's Army!

Morning Musume, a 15-member all-girl pop group, and one of the most popular musical outfits to have ever swept Japan... rolled out a Poster promoting military recruitment for Japan's so-called "Self Defense Forces" (SDF). Printed and distributed by Japan's "Defense Agency", the Morning Musume Poster is intended to raise interest among Japan's young people for military service. This comes on the heels of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's pushing through legislation that does away with Japan's long standing Pacifist Constitution. Mr. Koizumi has made stepped up commitments to provide troops to U.S. occupied Afghanistan and Iraq, despite intense protest from the Japanese people. Earlier this month Koizumi committed 1,000 SDF troops to a tour of duty in Iraq.

The hottest candy-coated pop group appears in the Poster under the ridiculous slogan of, "GO GO PEACE!" I think what they really meant was "Bye Bye Peace!" The Poster images was provided on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 by the Associated Press. For more info, turn to the url printed on the Musume Poster:
