RedRed, for those who are not familiar, is a latina, Portland womyn who is facing a felony and an absurd sentence of 5yrs on the false charge that she broke a window of the California state building. During the WTO/USDA protests in Sacramento, law enforcement claims that the window was broken on Sunday, when she was arrested. The problem with their story is that the window in question was not broken until 2 days after she was taken into custody for posession of a gas mask. Now unless our dear friend has developed amazing telepathic powers, these claims are completely preposterous! This is an overt attempt at silencing her strong, dissenting voice. It is apparent that they see in her the qualities of a bold and worthy foe to their oppressive system. They shamelessly spin a web of lies to lock her away in an attempt to suppress her passion. Even corporate media could not avoid reporting the deceit. Over the local news it was aired, the window in question was yet unbroken, the very next day after she was in custody! They're tampering with evidence and intimidating witnesses. Judging by their conspicuously devious behavior, it appears that they think she is alone and forgotten now that everyone has gone home many miles away. This is now the time for us rise up like a tidal wave and flood the D.A.'s office with our passion. Let our solidarity be screamed from the roof-tops until RedRed is free from their clutches! With our combined voices pummeling the D.A. and it's fraudulent case, the state doesn't stand a chance against our unity!

RedRed has asked that we contact the Sacramento DA and demand that the charges be dropped

I saw her get arrested and to all observers it looked very much as though she were just lying down on the grass drinking some water. Definitely she wasn't breaking things, and I didn't see a gas mask. What if someone has asthma, besides? My aunt has emphysema and carries an oxygen tank, and in Colorado Springs when some of the hundreds of antiwar marchers started stepping into the street which the police had closed to cars (implying that they could walk in it) they made a muffled announcement and then started throwing pepper gas cannisters. If she had breathed that in and hadn't crossed a field she could have had a serious health problem.

Thanks for posting this -- please, please call the DA's office and let them know that we demand for all charges to be dropped! This is simply outrageous and unacceptable. They should be ashamed of themselves.

i think that all charges be dropped on redred. It is not fair, everyone should do something hang in there redred

Sure REDRED may or may not, have broken that window. But someone did and if a person was standing at or below that window they could have been killed by the falling glass. Lack of foresight on that person’s part should be punished. Maybe REDRED didn’t do it or maybe she did. Let the courts decide. I am sure 5 years is the max and she may just get year probation.

It would be a good time to add that Redred is Chicana and appears very much so; hence it does not surprise me at any rate that she is being the scapegoat, token 'anarchist' of the WTO-Sacto protests.

"Let the courts decide." We let the courts decide the 2000 election....

If you think the risk of 5 years liberty for civil disobedience is appropriate does that mean you have and will risk this your own?

What is the problem with having a gas mask? These things are sold in surplus stores and on the internet, aren't they? Why is it a crime to want to breathe clean air? This, like gun laws, is another example of a law that tells us to expose our throat for the government dagger. Why aren't people questioning the initial premise?
