Speakers added- Ciny Allsbrooks & Chickpea..
MAXXAM is clear-cutting our futures away!
In order to portray a well balanced picture of a variety of forest defense activities, we have included a few more people to our roster (See below for fully revised teach-in schedule.):
Cindy Allsbrooks, with the Forest Peace Alliance, became involved in this campaign when her son, David "Gypsy" Chain, was killed in 1998 by a tree that was felled by a MAXXAM logger while documenting illegal logging on MAXXAM land. Cindy will be addressing steps the Forest Peace Alliance is taking in resolving the violence and conflict between the activists and the loggers.
Also Renne "Chickpea" Felz, a reporter with KPFT local news and the Houston Independant Media Center, will be demonstrating where to find alternate media sources. She will also discus how to determine if news pieces are biased rather than well balanced.
