Why?

Does anybody else feel the constant tension in the air?

Most of it is fear, I gather. Some of us are in fear of another terrorist attack. Some of us are in fear of the government and their tightening grip on our civil liberties. Some of us are in fear of the stupidity of the masses. Some of us are in fear of socialist liberals growing government programs to the point of outrageous federal taxes. Some of us are in fear of the ridiculous number of state and local governments on the brink of financial collapse. Some of us are in fear of perpetual war. Fear is so dangerous.

Fear breeds prejudice, prejudice breeds hatred, hatred breeds violence and violence breeds fear.

It amazes me how quick human nature turns us on each other. I'm astounded by the sheer number of factions we've split ourselves into. I shudder when I think of all the individuals in this country, and the entire Western world for that matter, so mentally crippled by fear that they seek and find comfort in mass killings. Why can't we all just get along?

Why?

I'm out of answers. Why is this nation so fucking divided? Someone enlighten me. Don't be shy, I know where I'm sending this and I know a majority of you are very opinionated, so let me have it.
