Berkeley Bowl Hires #1 Union Buster in Country

just a bit of an update...

As many indymedia folks know by know, Berkeley Bowl has hired an anti-union law firm to "avoid unionization". They are also trying to hire a human relations person with skills in union avoidance.

This is all very interesting considering they tell employees and the public that they respect Berkeley Bowl workers' right to organize, while at the same time shelling out the big bucks for the #1 union busting law firm in the country(AFL-CIO has rated Jackson and Lewis the # 1 union buster).

Berkeley Bowl management is currently attempting to avoid unionization through disinformation, intimidation, and buying off workers with raises they never gave before. One worker has already asked for his card back because his manager, Mike(in the meat dept), said he would give him a raise if he got his card back.

§Mike Myers(clarification about Meat Manager)

Note: This is just a note to say that the employee that we understood was offered a raise and a future at the company if he sided with the company and not the union, now claims that his manager Mike Myers did not say that he needs his card back in order to get a raise. Whatever the truth is, let it be known that the manager of the meat department at Berkeley Bowl was apprenticed though the Butcher's Union that Berkeley Bowl employees have chosen to unionize with. Mike Myers will receive a union pension for all the years that he worked as a butcher in a union store, and Mike's brothers' job was saved by UFCW Local 120 when his former employer tried to accuse him of stealing a lil debbies cake and a coffee.

If Jackson and Lewis, the union busting law firm, or Berkeley Bowl management is now checking this website. Let it be known that you are a bunch of suckers for lying and misinforming employees of the Berkeley Bowl about what unions really do for us as workers.

If it is truly up to the employees of Berkeley Bowl to decide whether they want to unionize or not, let them have access to all the information that is out there and not just your half truths as they are filtered through a lousy bunch of union busting lawyers.
