Tell SF Supes No on N re 7/8 Agenda
One more time, we need your E-mails, faxes, letters and phone calls to defeat Prop N, on the SF Board of Supes agenda on 7/8/03.
One more time, we need your E-mails, faxes, letters and phone calls to defeat Prop N, on the SF Board of Supes agenda on 7/8/03.
As you can see from te Board's agenda at http://www.sfgov.org/site/uploadedfiles/bdsupvrs/bosagendas/a070803.htm,
it is item 34, which according to the July 2003 Street Sheet being sold by (and should be bought from) the homeless, was let of the Rules Committee consisting of Supes Hall, Dufty & Gonzalez, as a "professional courtesy" to the fascist candidate for mayor, Sup. Newsom, and sent to the full Board.
Prop N was opposed by the Green Party of which Sup Gonzalez is a member, and opposed by the Democratic Party, of which 9 of them belong, Sup Hall claiming to be "independent." Yet we have good Democrats Newsom, Dufty, Sandoval, McGoldrick and Peskin supporting it against their own party.
Prop N was also opposed by all tenant organizations which supported Sandoval, McGoldrick and Peskin in their run for office.
All of the supervisors know the publicity campaign for this disastrous scapegoating of the homeless to elect a fascist baby boy, Sup Newsom, to be mayor, was a complete lie. They also know that the voters defeated Prop N's companion initiative, Prop R, the repeal of rent control, thus proving they were lied to on Prop N, but could not be lied to as to Prop R.
Newsom's latest claim to fame is his vicious attack on the gay community by ejecting Gay Shame from the gay parade, who carried on a long tradition of gay people jumping into their own parade with banners to make a political point, this one being condemning the reactionary policies of a politician who happens to be heterosexual, Sup. Newsom.
Sup Newsom's politics are a continuation of almost 8 years of fascist terror perpetrated by that good Democrat Willie Brown. Newsom is support by Willie Brown, and his election fraud team which includes Cecil Williams of Glide Church. For all the horrors of Willie Brown, see http://www.brasscheck.com/stadium and http://www.brasscheck.com/jonestown
TODAY, PLEASE CALL, E-MAIL, FAX AND/OR US MAIL TO THE 8 SUPERVISORS whose vote is needed to override a likely veto of fascist Brown, namely all except Dufty, Hall and Newsom (although Hall claims to be No on N, so you could include him). They all have voice mail for you to leave a message at any time. They all make decisions about the budget that affect all of us and thus you should contact as many of them as possible no matter where you live.
The US Mail address is City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton Goodlett, San Francisco, CA 94102.

Please join efforts to dissuade supervisors from enacting so-called Care not Cash initiative, aka Newsom for Mayor, passed by only 27% registered voters. Call, fax, e-mail and let them know Newsoms attack on the poor as a vehicle to get elected is unacceptable!
Insist, demand supervisors not implement Prop N until they identify, secure funds, and identify and secure services necessary to implement Prop N.
Don't let Chevron, Bechtel, Charles Schwab, Newsom, SF Police Officers Association, the GAP, Realty Magnates, developers, venture capitalists, Republican front groups dictate city policy governing public health services for San Francisco's indigent poor, homeless, seniors, families, vets and chronically ill citizens.
Prop N is a lie! Prop N bought and paid for by SF Power Elite! They lied in their campaign lit, and lied on doorhangers, and now they continue to lie in order to save Newsoms ticket into city hall.

Dear Supervisors:
I urge you to not implement Proposition N without
first identifying and securing funds necessary to
effectively enact all aspects of Prop N. How will the
city "care" for the seniors, vets, poor families,
chronically ill who will be displaced from shelters
and housing to make room for Prop N targets? Please
note, the care is not there, the housing's not there,
and the city lacks funding to provide
comprehensive services outlined in Prop N.
Across the country, non-profits servicing our poor and
indigent are facing huge budget deficits and are
losing government funding, corporate grant money due
to tax cuts and economic downturn. SF Non-profits
cannot bear the brunt of this heartless measure,
heartless because there is no way to effectively
implement Prop N during this budget crisis and serious economic downturn. Jobless rates are higher than ever, and many families face homelessness. The
so-called "Care not Cash" campaign has done a great
disservice to our community by creating a political
wedge during polarized, economically stressful times.
Secure San Francisco's legacy as the city that knows
how to care. San Francisco is known for it's heart,
and truly, only 27% of all registered voters supported
this measure, or were unknowingly duped by this saavy, callous media campaign during a slow vote year. Please note, Newsom misinformed voters when he carelessly lied about a clinical study's conclusions regarding homeless deaths, drug use and check disbursements published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Newsom was reportedly ordered by the journal to cease and desist from illegal, unauthorized use of their logo on 2002 GOTV door-hangers.
It's bad enough Newsom is utilising unethical campaign techniques to seduce voters, so please, don't let downtown developers, realty magnates, big industry, and republican political action groups manipulate voters, San Francisco's poor nor should they be allowed to direct public health policy.
Cash-strapped service providers have been testifying before you informing the board that the "Care" is not there. Please, do not implement Proposition N until the Board is able to secure all funding necessary for services, housing, and most importantly, "Care." Is this how millionaires who benefited from Bush's tax-cut re-invest in America? Layoffs, scapegoating, and wedge issues? Stand up for misled voters and San Francisco's poor by saying no to Newsom's slick campaign ploy, mis-nomered "Care not Cash."
Sincerely,
Today the Board of Supervisors will be deciding on Prop N, Newsoms "Care not Cash." PLEASE, write, call, GO to the board of Supervisors and insist that Proposition N not be implemented until funding, housing, services are identified and secured.

Sincerely,
I agree, the voters of San Francisco are a stupid, misinformed, and easily mislead group. We had no idea what we were voting for with Prop. N. Better hurry up and take away our voting rights away before we start using it every election. Viva fascism! Democracy no! The people cannot be trusted to govern! We need supervisors who are ready to stand up and rbuff the will of the majority.

Brent Callahan: sorry for your confusion on this issue. We're currently concerned about lack of necessary funding. QUESTION: Can you identify and secure necessary funds and service providers to implement Prop N? Harvey Rose says Prop N is unfeasable and will cost the city millions and millions. Do you know something he doesn't?
If the city cannot afford or deliver on this measures promises to the voters, are you suggesting the board implement anyways, even if fiscally unsound and promises to voters are not kept? I know of no biz or corp that acts so irresponsibly toward its shareholders, oh that's right, enron, world-com, etal...and we see where it got them? Prison and the workers sent to the unemployment line.
You voted for it, but there's no money to implement...now what? Press on despite better knowledge? Funny, many people can see right through newsoms BS, even national news desks.
Are those ~175K/~680K voters willing to pick up the tab to ensure "CARE?" Please, send your kind, and generous donation to implement "Care" to the board...I think you'll need many, many millions...maybe panhandle housing from those realtors...maybe you can panhandle funds off those uber-wealthy financiers of Newsom for Mayor, Prop N, Committee on Jobs, and that other political action group run by Realtors and developers...
Sorry to hear you were among the 27.9% of registered voters that supported this careless plan...Get real! The care's not there...Prop N is not fiscally feasable and will cost the city extra millions to put into place...haven't you been watching and listening to those who know better than me or you, or Newsom's Campaign Hacks, or livid supporters, about how to best deal with poverty issues while balancing budgets?
Regardless of where you stand on the issue of Prop N, the city cannot afford it. Sorry to burst "Care" bubble.
So? Can you answer the question, please? Where's the money going to come from to fully implement Prop N? Indicate where the tax funds to save programs and services, both city funded and non-profits-- groups now facing budget cuts and huge deficits? Where will the Elderly, Veterans, poor families, children, terminally-ill, destitute move after making room to enact Prop N?
If you cannot answer the question, then there is no funding and there are not enough services, therefore there is no cash for care.
I'd like to know Newsoms positions on other wedge issues such as abortion, affirmative action, sunshine act, death penalty, three strikes, medical marijuana, campaign finance reform, union contracting for city projects, a national living wage, etal...

Let's see...as a courtesy...
<<you do an excellent job of skirting any and all issues in your retort, but you for got to answer the question "Why do YOU wish to starve the poor and deny them services??"
ANSWER: --no wish to starve poor, quite the opposite. actually, Prop N denies services and monies for food, since funding and space unavailable to implement "Care".

REPLY: posts coming into this thread have much to say about the issues...not spew, but healthy, civil dicourse on the pertinent issues at hand, not base personal attacks...I think you've worn out this old SPAM response...clearly doesn't fit here.

so, er, blaming ones parents?

<<shame on your family, for not educating you better>>
Not a QUESTION...
so, er, blaming ones parents?
REPLY: this is purely psycho-babble. Don't believe in it. Just my opinion.
Can you show the same courtesy and answer the question posed over and over and over:
QUESTION: Where will the funds and services necessary to enact and implement Prop N come from?

On a day when a vote on the Care Not Cash comes up at the Board of Supervisors, don't you find it curious that its author, Gavin Newsom, should be absent?
In today's meeting, the question "Where's Gavin? was posed by his fellow board members and poverty advocates alike. Taking the floor, Supervisor Chris Daly announced that in a communication his office had with Newsom's, he received a reply that "it was none of your business." Well! Before the roll call, it had been rumored that Newsom was attending a wedding. Later, it had been revealed that Newsom was vacation in Mexico. Apparently, he forgot to clear his calendar, much to the consternation of all present.
A contingent including the Coalition on Homelessness, POWER, and the Day Labor Program chanted "Vote! Vote! Vote!" They want to bring closure to the measure that threatens to slash General Assistance payments from $395 to $59 a month. Care Not Cash, which was passed in last November's election, was forced to go back to the Board after a Superior Court judge overturned it. Since the ruling, the future of the measure, a lynchpin in Newsom's mayoral campaign, is in doubt: it doesn't appear Newsom has the required six votes for passage.
A motion to continue Care Not Cash for one week was passed 8 to 2. Daly's counterpart to Care Not Cash has also been put on the backburner. The vocal group demanding the vote left the hall, some escorted by Sherriff's officers. "We'll be back!" we cried. But will Gavin Newsom return and will he be sporting a tan?

Yawn, is right! You know, it's very hard ot follow these bilious rants, blatant personal attacks, and unrelated SPAM responses placed here and there willy-nilly. None of it is comprehensible, and certainly not worthy of response. So stop with the schoolyard bully acts.
I just wish you'd all take it outside...The double speak, the back and forth, the anti-this, anti-that, the personal attacks, the "false dilemnas" the red-baiting, liberal-baiting, jew-baiting, palestianinan baiting, anti-zionazi--(--uh, what the hell does that mean?) is making my head spin.
Can't you anti-guys and anti-gals agree to disagree. You know, it's okay to hold opinions that others do not agree with. Agree to disagree already, and leave us out of it!
Man, someone needs to get a life or join Indy-AA. I'm here posting alerts, not questioning complete strangers political beliefs.
And, somehow we all get sucked into your drab discussions. Act locally, clean a street, feed the homeless, get laid....cdo something positive for yourselves, and your community, and stop taking out your frustrations with eah other on unrelated threads.
It's so assinine!
give everyone else who is clearly not interested in this rant a break already! If we wanted to read your views we'd go to those threads where CAPS are USED!
just my opinion....stop being so didactic and boorish idealogues. getta grip, all.
