WTO BioDevastation:
Coming Soon in Cancun, Mexico
A U.S. Agriculture Department official claims ("Hundreds in Sacramento Protest Bioengineered Food," LA Times, June 23), that we who favor quality foods, not the imposed bioengineered, don't have a "very good understanding [of] what we're trying to achieve," he said... "It's pretty hard for me to understand why anyone would want to protest against helping stop world hunger," said J.B. Penn.
If you believe this, that people don't want Frankenfoods, and don't know what they are about, I have an Edsel full of lemons to sell you.
They tell us the U. S. is concerned about feeding the hungry. So, why don't they and their buddies simply see that the plentiful abundance agribusiness already grows simply gets distributed properly?
I didn't go to Harvard College, but to Nebraska. I do know that that loads of food are already dumped regularly, just as loads of small farmers have been discarded like today's read newspaper--so that corporate agribusiness could displace farmers to cities and "feed the world."
If there is not an absolute overabundance now of food, go to any LA so-called super-market and you tell me if we are in the same movie.
And for the third world, you tell me: in India, do they need imported Uncle Ben's enriched, or the vitamin rich rice they already grow?
With corporate, secret complicity amongst the likes of the government, "higher education" at places like the University of California, and with Monsanto--read the Mon-Satin Corporation, just follow the money, not the rhetoric.
Haven't we had enough government deceit with the latest lies in their pursuit of the "weapons of mass destruction" and the "bringing of democracy to Iraq"?
Ask yourself: if right here in LA people are starving at this moment near the LA Times building, what is Mr. Penn doing in Sacramento decrying hunger?
Feeding the hungry? Yes, those Republicans coming to dine with Bush at the Century Plaza this Friday night must be a mighty hungry lot.
Sincerely,
Andrew Kay Liberman
