Maxxam Pacific Lumber's goon squad endagers life, but faails to cut occupied trees

by j-dog
Trees saved but tragedy naarrowly averted, WE MUST STOP MAXXAM PACIFIC LUMBER
freshwaterdscn0161.jpg

In Freshwater, Humbolt County, tree sitters instinctively derailed Maxxam Pacific Lumber’s (PL) plans to log giant old growth redwood trees hundreds of years old, when a tree sitter named Smokey U-locked in 600 pounds of concrete, another two out on the traverses, one locked by his neck onto the line atached to two fatty trees, and two more kids freeclimbing created too much resistance for PL to log. Goons (climbers) in Freshwater tore down platforms ,stole ropes and gear, and tossed galons of human feces, and urine from high up cuasing the entire area to became consumed with the stench.

U-LOCK IN HUNDREDS OF POUNDS OF CONCRETE WITH person locked in gets lifted down despite warnings from concerned citizens and activists, super sketchy. Two sitters left without anyway to get down the tree. Sherrifs arive and immediately assumed their postions as PL’s hired security force threatening to arrest any of us who get to close to a good ole boy operation. Once down, it took hours to get him out of the concrete barrel having been locked to it since 7am.

Sketchy Eric’s goon squad have been recorded in the past torturing activists, using pain compliance, beatings, psychological assualts, and threats to “let you die”. These crimes have been recorded and documented, yet he and PL are engaged in a almost laaughable PR campain against tree sitters.

Congratulations sitters and support. Everyone, including Maxxam/PL admits that Jerry and Everstine are not good lumber trees. These antics on PL's part are just a big show of bully tactics. The cost to the already broke county must have been something, but the County will never place the cost blame in PL's lap.
To all of you who put your lives on the line to try and stop this madness, you're awesome. Stay strong!!

Without the treesitters, there would be no added cost to the county from harvesting those trees. But you would have to divert the cost issue to PL, having come from another state to create a huge cost onto the local tax payers.
Don't worry, I am sure you can group together to pay that sitters $10 fine.
How's Jenny's book coming? Got a publisher yet.?
Fact is, tresspassers are willingly breaking the law. No one is arguing that issue. The police have a duty to enforce the law. The tax payers foot the bill for such enforcement.

Without the tree-sitters and their support you and your Co. would have already turned Freshwater and the rest of your holdings into massive clearcuts. Ground water quality and streams ruined and legally proctected species wiped out, all to line the pockets of Charles Hurwitz.

Someboty has to take a stand against your destructive logging.

You're smart enough to know that logging can be done without clearcutting and destroying the old-growth, but as long as Hurwitz sits in his big glass tower in Texas and expects your monthly payments, the forests and species they protect will be under siege and J. Branam will continue to spew the Co. line.

Thank goodness for forest activists.

The tree sitter could -- of course -- have let go or unlocked himself from the concrete block at any time. Even KMUD's Estelle realized this. By failing to unlock the protestor, who had already created the dangerous situation by tree sitting and breaking the law, made it all the worse.
by doesn't have the option
Too bad Freshwater cannot voluntarily unlock itself from the binds of Maxxam Corporation. Smoky's lock-down outlasted the presence of the logger, who would have cut the tree upon arrival.

It occurs to me from my perch here in northern Cascadia that the only language these goons understand is money. PL/Maxxam can always borrow or steal the money they need to hire arch-criminal soulless motherfuckers like Erik the Schitz, but Humboldt County isn't the same matter.

When Humboldt County sheriff's goons are out there doing PL's work for them, it costs the county money. Every time HC allocates a resource, it has a public and identifiable drain on resources.

I'm not suggesting we change our tactics because tree-sits work. I am suggesting, though, that we consider ways to make HC and other 'responsible agencies' feel the cost of this battle the way we do.

Residents of HC: find a county service and use it slowly, often, and wearing green. Call the sheriff when you see questionable types slinking around (especially those scary night climbers...they look pretty sketchy to me) and make a report. The government of HC is there to serve the residents of HC. HC Residents: Demand Your Services!

why aren't the sitters suing and filing criminal complaints on Eric Shitz and these other creeps? All the whining bootlickers-for-the-rich do about "breaking the law" when their goons break the law all the time. to make tree-sitting more effective, every extracted tree-sitter should sue and should make a criminal complaint against hurwitz's jackals...

Every time a story gets written about tree-sitter extractions, it would be good to know how old the tree is: When I heard a sitter talking about it on FSRN the other day, she said that the tree she was sitting in was 1200 years old. That fact ought to be stated loudly and frequently anytime tree-sitting is discussed. I think it makes people take notice.

The other issue that should always be mentioned -- are these on public lands, or if private, how much per acre did the lumber companies pay? No sane person would sell a 1200 year old tree in his back yard, but I suspect you're going to tell me it's public property or sold dirt cheap.

sparrow,
If you don't get it now, you never will. I feel sorry for people like you. No I take that back, I pity people like you. You do not have a clue to life. Where do you come off saying that the tree sitters should sue. I think that the tree sitters should spend some time with Bubba in a cell instead of being released for breaking the law. You people say that Eric is endangering the tree sitters? Take a look at those 55 gal. drums filled with cement, who put them there?. You people are truly brain dead.
by Same old B.S.
Fantastic Sam,
You are right. People like you do put a drain on hard working people like myself. That is why I am going to recommend to the county supervisors, that for each tree sitter that is arrested, they should not be released from jail until that person pays for the time law enforcement took to drag your butts down and for the time you stay in jail. I figure if you don't want to pay, then you will be quite old by the time you get out. It is time for people like you to start paying some of the cost. And what you say is totally different from what E.F. says. they say that they don't want to put people out of work. I don't beleive that smoke screen any more. Your tatics is scorched earth. Wipe everyone out and move on.

When we are discussing money matters, then I would like to point out that Maxxam/PL is externalizing the cost of it's corporation. Since they are robbing your county of it's trees and wildlife. Which means that they county pays for every mudslide, every dirty stream, and individually from the loss of quality air and they will suffer from global warming. So Maxxam/PL should definitely stop clearcutting. These paltry county fees which you might be paying for in your taxes are squat compared to the environmental damage fees your county will be paying when Maxxam/PL has clearcut what it wants. Save more money by supporting the treesitters.
Here in the belly of the beast there are many people who are opposed to Maxxam/PL and who are supportive of the treesitters.

the fact is that pigs like hurwitz, bush, milken, michael jackson, etc. want to turn this planet into a jail/factory where we're all like chickens crammed in cages in fast food breederies, with no room to move, no room to think, no nothing to do but die profitably so some pig or weasel can have a 2% bigger mansion, or another expensive car, or some other worthless crap only an asshole would value. one of their tactics is to use redneck/moron, christian/alcoholic, depressed/violent adult children as pawns and frontboys. it's too bad, but idiots like this derive a real sense of self-importance by siding with the very oppressors who deprive them of any real personal autonomy. slaves who love the whip and worship the master's authority-what can you do with clowns like this?

sparrow,
You need professional help in a big way.
by earth first goes corperate
why has EARTH FIRST started profiteering?

recording companies, corporate offices?

what is going on here?
by Same old B.S.
This is not hard to figure out. I think I would rather be sitting in a nice cozy office up on let's say the 20th floor instead of in a tree freezing your butt off. Also it's faster with a record company to get that brand new BMW.
I have said it before, these Enviro groups are not even interested in saving a tree. If they were, how come you don't see them out on the front lines helping to fight a forest fire? And if they are out on the front lines, how come they don't drag the media out there to show them in action? No, you won't catch them out there because they are afraid that someone would ask them how come there is so much burning fuel on the forest floor.
