-01:12 Robert Knight and the Knight Report.. Robert: militant Islamist rebels revolting in.. Africa.. Ghana to Liberia.. French troops in Liberia and.. to the Congo.. female mutilation.. Mugabe in Zimbabwe.. another fatal guerrila attack on US troops in Iraq.. 29 Americans killed since Bush declared heavy fighting over May 1.. US puppet regime in Iraq announces export of Iraqi oil.. Israeli announced the dismantling of 15 Jewish colonies in the West Bank, settlements already disbanded.. 2 Palestinians killed.. Abbas chides Hamas for resisting Israeli occupation..
-07:30 Dennis: about Patriot Act II.. now w Michael Ratner, of the Center for Constitutional Rights.. Ashcroft back before Congress says he needs PA-II to fight terrorism.. Michael: two days after a scathing internal report from the Justice Department on PA-I.. detainees held in violation of all international and American human right laws.. about PA-II.. would strip citizenship from Americans.. wants death penalty for any American 'materially aiding' terrorism.. and put people in jail indefinitely without any rights.. Dennis: are we taking giant steps toward a fascist state.. Michael: a disappeared Dennis Bernstein, that's the state we're moving toward.. a violation of the basic right of every human being not to be scooped up and disappeared.. sets a horrible example for the rest of the world..
-12:10 Dennis: the kidnapping of Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratic leader of Burma.. military officials accuse her of provoking violence.. injured, no access to medical care.. now w the duly elected Prime Minister of Burma in exile (link2), Aung San Suu Kyi's cousin, Dr. Sein Win.. Dr. Win: about Aung San Suu Kyi, I do not know where she is, how she is.. some people say she is being held in a military camp.. many people say she was wounded in the head.. Dennis: was she causing trouble, provoking trouble?.. Dr. Win: all the people came to greet her were peaceful.. she taught peace.. but the military aggitate and holler.. according to the information from the people, it was a premeditated attack, an ambush.. why would this narco-military provoke such a brutal attack on a Nobel Peace Prize winner?.. the army do anything they like, torture, forced relocations, forced slave labor, killings.. Dennis: concern on the part of the military that Aung San Suu Kyi was getting too popular, many people coming out to see her?.. Dr. Win: yes they are afraid of the ordinary people.. but support for our democracy movement is increasing around the world.. US legislation for an import ban is introduced and I think will pass (with your help).. about another relative stayed in jail five years without medicine, had to sleep on concrete, now can't walk.. Dennis: the US government talking about fighting terrorism.. but in Burma the government terrorizing the people and the US ignoring it.. the special envoy couldn't get to see Aung San Suu Kyi, are you concerned?.. Dr. Win: yes..

-23:41 Dennis: the US continuing to tighten the screws on Haiti (Chomsky).. now w Brian Concannon, a lawyer in Haiti.. Brian: the current government that has won a landslide election every election since 1990.. in spite of pressure from the OAS and the financial powers.. by far the worse is the embargo on development aid.. preventable diseases leading cause of death among children.. armed groups coming across the border from the Dominican Republic.. kidnapped medical workers, killed police, taken over radio stations.. US sending weapons to the Dominican Republic.. 20,000 M16s.. no need for those weapons internally in the Dominican Republic.. then comes the cross border attacks.. the Dominican Republic did arrest some armed fighters, but then released them.. OAS meeting now, on the agenda the Haitian elections.. in May 2000 Haitian election.. OAS leveled a charge that 7 Senators votes weren't counted correctly.. the 7 Senators resigned, but that didn't appease the US.. the OAS keeps moving the goalposts.. to prevent new elections.. the OAS led by the US.. a legislative void looming in January, because a percentage of legislators' terms ends, and the OAS will not allow new elections.. perpetual crises.. the US government plays a role in all Haiti's legislative crises.. the US started putting pressure after they realized that Aristide won.. Haiti is a progressive country, the electors poor and marginalized and do not vote the way giant companies want them to.. Lavalas opponents want to re-institute the Haitian military.. opposed by Lavalas, because historically the army has been predatory, torturing, killing, stealing.. connections between the head of the pre-1990 Haitian death squads led by Emanual Constant trained by the CIA.. killed thousands of people.. other military leaders trained by the US.. the US seized 1000's of documents and wouldn't return them for six years.. Emanual Constant, the head of the biggest death squad living in New York.. why is the richest most powerful country in the world, ie the US, so afraid of democracy for the poor Haitian people?.. back to Ronald Reagan's *domino theory*.. a successful progressive government will get other Latin governments on board.. anytime there has been a progressive goverment in Latin America, the US sees it as dangerous.. witness now Venezuala and Brazil.. what should the OAS do?.. really end the embargo.. and stop supporting undemocratic politicians.. push for free democratic elections in Haiti.. the US should support the democratic process in Haiti, just accept that sometimes in a democracy that the people you want to win won't win.. about Disney in Haiti..
-43:14 Dennis: now to the West Bank with our special correspondent, Anne Gwynne.. about the killing of five Israeli soldiers in Gaza.. Anne: the lockdown is much more severe now than even two weeks ago.. under complete lockdown.. every checkpoint full of long lines.. long lines of blindfolded, handcuffed students.. started arresting women at the checkpoints.. three young schoolgirls, held for six hours, their mobile phones thrown to the ground, stomped on.. searched intimately by men.. even ambulances not allowed through the checkpoints at all.. yesterday an ambulance stolen on the Nablus to Jenin road.. a sick patient, and driver both arrested and the ambulance driven away.. using the attack on the soldiers in Gaza as a pretext.. six Palestinians killed last week, 16 homes demolished.. hundred of people arrested.. absolutely unbelievable.. 17 children injured here in Nablus in two days.. 12 seriously injured.. 25mm shells, smash a child's bones.. eyes gone, blood loss terrible.. Dennis: Hamas and two other groups claim responsibility for the shooting of the Israeli soldiers.. Anne: the 'Peace Process' number one condition is that the Palestinian stop the violence.. how about the violence against Palestinians.. Palestinians have the legal right to resist the occupation by any means necessary.. resistance fighters called 'gunmen'.. Hamas has five principles.. (lists).. Hamas recognizes the 1967 borders of Israel, but Israel doesn't recognize Palestine.. the Right of Return.. would pave the way for compensation.. people have lived for 50 years in refugee camps.. East Jersalem is the capitol of Palestine.. Israel has between 12 and 15,000 political prisoners, they must be released.. Israel said today they will dismantle 14 illegal outposts (all unoccupied trailers).. nothing, this is nothing, Isarel is up to its tricks again.. I can't tell you what an honor and a priviledge it is to talk to the leaders of the Palestinian resistance.. these are great guys.. what makes them give their lives for their country, in every other country in the world, men who give their lives are honored.. 3,500 have died in this intifada along, all these fighters have 100% chance of losing their life.. being here has changed everything in my life.. every Palestinian fighter I talk to.. want nothing but peace, they want nothing but to put their gun in the guest room..
