6-12 - Not In Our Name Forum on Iraq Occupation

by Daniel Pace (nionpress [at] yahoo.com)
Not In Our Name Forum Discussion on Occupation of Iraq - Thursday June 12
END THE OCCUPATION - U.S. OUT OF IRAQ!
With Charles Liteky (Voices In The Wilderness) and Larry Everest (Author & Journalist for RW & other Pubs)
END THE OCCUPATION - U.S. OUT OF IRAQ!
What does occupation really look like?
Why do we say this occupation is NOT liberation?
How is this occupation connected to the "War on the World"? What's the urgency to "end the occupationâ???
Was the government lying all along about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction â?" just to justify their war for empire?

Join Not In Our Name, and Special Guests:
LARRY EVEREST: he has covered the Middle East and Central Asia for over 20 years for the Revolutionary Worker newspaper and other publications. He traveled to Iran in 1979 and again in 1980, shortly after the revolution that toppled the Shah. During both visits, he traveled to Iranian Kurdistan, and in 1980 was able to interview Islamic militants then holding the U.S. Embassy. In 1988 he traveled to Palestine to cover the Palestinian people's first intifada. In 1991, shortly after the end of the Persian Gulf War, Everest went to Iraq to document impact of the war on the Iraqi people and filmed the award-winning video Iraq: War Against the People (for more:http://www.noiraqwar.com )

CHARLES LITEKY: a former Army chaplain and war hero turned lifelong demonstrator, Liteky got a one-year sentence and a fine of $10,000 for two counts of illegally trespassing at Fort Benning, the sprawling Army infantry post that is home to the controversial School of the Americas, a training facility for Latin American military officers. He is also one of dozens of American citizens and other internationals that went to Iraq as part of the Voices in the Wilderness, despite the threat of a US attack. They continue to support and help Iraqi citizens who, through no fault of their own, face imminent attack in an illegal US-led war.

And remember, that the liberation of the Iraqi people, the bringing of optimism and hope to a people formerly ruled by fear by Saddam, the fight at home for racial equality and for self-determination, and everything in this world that is good and just...
...was NOT IN THEIR NAME.
