District Attorney Terence Hallinan is wasting our tax dollars for not dropping the charges himself. He needs the votes of the peace community to get elected in this 3-way race of Democrats. If the thinks playing to the warmongers is going to win votes, he clearly not only does not think at all but he deserves to be booted out of office.
This writer does not vote for Democrats or Republicans, but it is worth noting the latest insult and waste by the current Democrat in the DA's office, as well as the victory of our peace movement.
Personally, I will be happy to see Hallinan defeated, not only for this outrageous prosecution of peaceniks but also for the vicious prosecution of "AIDS" whistleblowers, Michael Petrelis and David Pasquerilli, whom Hallinan originally wanted to prosecute as terrorists, showing that there is not a dime's worth of difference between Democrats & Republicans. There was such an outcry from the progressive community that Hallinan had to drop that stupidity, but he is still going after them for making nuisance phone calls. It would be good to see both Hallinan and election-frauding Willie Brown, whom Hallinan never prosecuted, finish their political careers this year, together. Good riddance to both of them.

a NLG lawyer in the hall outside the courtroom this morning told me that only some of the infraction charges had been dismissed for failure of the police to write a police report. he looked thru his printout, found my name, and gave me the good news.
also, a friend of mine that was also arrested on M21 finally received his Courtesy Warning Letter yesterday.

I read on sfgate.com (I know, slanted news...) that only 30 of the 200 had their charges dropped and starting next Thursday, the lawyers will call for a motion to dismiss (that is when my hearing is scheduled). The chances look very good for us...And I am not angered by the DA's decision to do this (reduce our charges and not drop them). He was pressured by the mayor, who we need to send right out the door. In fact, I believe we are very lucky to live in a liberal community. I am from the midwest and have spoken with friends back there who said most of the views are very conservative and protests are very small (an average of 10 people).
It will be interesting to see how my hearing goes...I am quite looking forward in following this through until the end.
